Putting Hope Within Reach Because People Matter
IN DECEMBER 2016 we officially merged the two organizations of Pacific Northwest Adult & Teen Challenge and Because People Matter to create Hope Northwest. Our purpose is to provide recovery, humanitarian, and treatment services through the mission of putting hope within reach, because people matter. We are forging inroads of hope and restoration through our addiction treatment and recovery programs. And now we deepen our reach, with the addition of established service programs. We are increasing our presence in the community, effectively putting hope within reach, because people matter.
Pacific Northwest Adult & Teen Challenge is a faith-based, one-year, residential discipleship program with the purpose to restore hope to those who suffer from addiction as well as other serious, life-controlling issues. PNWATC employs the recovery model established by David Wilkerson in 1958, meeting the growing needs of the community with over 350 beds for men, women, and adolescents in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Students benefit from vocational training while assisting in the operation of 11 TC Resale & Donation retail centers. Additionally, these stores provide financial support to our recovery programs and quality resale to our community.
Because People Matter answers the needs of our community with love and generosity by providing relief, mobilization, and transformation. BPM mobilizes volunteers, meets felt needs, and develops relationships that transform the lives of homeless and at-risk. After school programs and curriculum create spaces for children and families to develop community and capacity through encouragement, relationships and fun. BPM hosts transformation trips in which teams of volunteers turn compassion into action by learning how to build relationships within marginalized populations.
Life Renewal offers licensed outpatient services to meet the vastly unmet need for addiction treatment in the Northwest. These community-based, licensed treatment services are facilitated by Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors. Life Renewal currently provides a faith-based treatment component to the long-term residential students of HopeNW recovery programs.
Life Renewal is expanding to offer more services to our communities. Conveniently scheduled meetings for both men will allow for daily work and family obligations to remain uninterrupted, and options for both faith-based and/or traditional addiction treatment approaches will be offered.
